accumulation project

This project has evolved alot!! I did the "trail" of spools, and I really didn't like how it looked on the grass, so i did it on a pattio and going up some stairs. But I really felt it didn't express what I was trying to say. And then I realised I really didn't even know what I was trying to say. I just didn't understand it. And then I started thinking about Marcel Duchamp and his "ready mades". He would take regular things and put them into a museum, chaning the meaning, and making people question what it means. With this in mind, and the idea that people either throw out emty spools or use them to make little objects. I also thought about how people their useless objects to decorate a room, on their mantle, or to fill in book cases. So I altered the spools by spray paint, and then I put them on the mantel above the fire place. Then I wanted to do more and make into an installation, and put them on the book shelf, and bar wall that I have in our apartment. I also took down posters and put up a fabric painting that was dyed and beaded, and then added other paintings I found at goodwill to go with the theme of the room. I added candels, and little objects around the apartment to make it look like trinkits and things on the mantel.
